PHP Decision Help

Hello everyone
I have just finished reading the book" Beginning PHP, Apache, MySQL Web Development".
I think that the writers have done an excellent work in writing the book. Congragualtions and Thank you to them. I got the link for this website from the book itself.
Coming to the point. I have my current website running on PHPNuke. Now that I have learned PHP, I wish to write my own code for my webiste. Here is where I face the problems. First I would like to know if it is possible to have my current members in my website in my future website. Also I would like to know whether I can insert themes in my website like done in PHPNuke, I am asking this question beacuse all the scripts which I had tried from the book were more or less plain looking and didnt offer very attractive looks. I was wondering if this is possible and if yes, how do I do it 😕 ,Currently, PHPNuke uses phpbb for a forums which is not very user friendly, I want to use vBulletin, Price is not a problem but I would like to know if I can integrate it in my website. If I can I will certainly purchase vBulletin rather than Invision or phpbb.
I have posted this here for your advices and comments. I hope I have not offended anyone through this post.

You will be able to do anything which PHP-Nuke does. You will be able to import the old database into the new one in some form or other.

However if you are reading that book perhaps trying to rewrite something of that size is biting off more you can chew? Perhaps you should try to rewrite some part of PHP-Nuke, or write a new module before jumping in at the deep end.

Ok, so you are trying to tell me that I should rather stick with PHPNuke for the time being and after sometime I should write my own code. Well I think I ll do just that. Just out of curiosity how much time would it take to write a code like PHPNuke by myself?
