How to select just one row / given column?

Hi!

I have the following table structure: integer id, varchar(20) domain, varchar(20) description

Values in the table:

1 home google
2 work altavista
3 home altavista
4 work altavista
5 work google

If i do the select:
select * from table where description='altavista'
i get:
2 work altavista
3 home altavista
4 work altavista

BUT how can i make to get back just the first result / domain, example:
to get just
2 work altavista
3 home altavista

, not
2 work altavista
3 home altavista
4 work altavista

Too bad, you're just unlucky and doomed never to succeed in software development.

After all, you dont even bother to say why it doesnt work when you try it, or even exactly what you tried.

Distinct keyword has no effect...

If i use:
SELECT *
FROM uktable
WHERE description = 'altavista'
GROUP BY domain

This works, BUT the results are sorted depending on the domain name alfabetic order.

If i example do a full-text search on the 'uktable' with group by domain, i get the result not depending on their relevance...

That's strange, I dont see a reason why it wouldnt work.

Then order by the id.
