To Not Display Trailing Zeros

With the DECIMAL data type in MySQL, how to I have PHP not display any trailing zeros?

Example:
1 to display as 1, not 1.00
1.5 to display and 1.5, not 1.50
1.55 to display at 1.55

I think you can use this:

trim($num, '0.')

Installers snippet works for me. What are you doing that isn't making it work?

The MySQL data is a Decimal, 2 digests.

The selevent code snippets:

$query_select = "SELECT .... storyPlace .... FROM tblStories"

$storyPlace = $row[3];

trim($storyPlace, '0.')

and that's what I messed up. It needed to be

$storyPlace = trim($storyPlace, '0.')

I did that and it works great.

In looking at the page more carefully, while $trim does kill the zeros I wanted it to on the right of the decimal point, it also killed the right-hand zero for 10, 20, 30 and so on, so they came out as 1, 2, 3 ....

I can't find anything in the manual about making it not do that.

How do I fix this, please?

Yeah, I should have foreseen that. :queasy: Here's a function that should work:

function special_trim($str)
{
    if (strpos($str, '.') !== false) {
        $str = rtrim($str, '0');
        $str = rtrim($str, '.');
    }
    return $str;
}

It works perfectly. The extra zeros got trimmed off and the 10 still shows as 10.
