Loading extensions with IIS

Whenever I try to load ANY extension by uncommenting it I get

PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library 'C:\php\ext\php_extension.dll' - Access is denied.

This isn't the common "php_mysql.dll" problem because I got that working with Apache fine (I'm migrating to IIS), but this won't work with ANY extension...

Does anyone know the problem?

First thought in my mind is: Permissions. What username is the webserver running as? 'IUSR' something? Make sure the 'IUSR' accounts have Read & Execute permission for the c:\php\ext\ folder.

Also, are you positive this is the correct path to the extension folder? Double check these two things, and let us know.

First thing: I don't know what user is trying to access it, and whether or not it I should give it security or shared permissions. So to counter both of those: I gave everyone full control on sharing and security.

Still same erorr.

I typed the exact path as it showed in the error message into my browser and it tried to save the .dll, so I am also 100% sure it's in the right folder.

This is driving me nuts!

What extension are you trying to load, for example:

extension=php_gd2.dll

Have you also tried copying all files in 'c:\php\dlls\' to your 'system32' directory?

I already have apache up and running on my server, but I want to use IIS for .NET technologies, but I want to have php on it also.

Ok, quick question: how did you install PHP? Did you use the windows installer or the binaries? Cos if you used the windows installer, you can't use external extensions (i.e. the ones that don't come pre-built in)

Well first I tried to actually unzip it and use it but I couldn't get it to work (don't remember exactly what happened): then I used the installer and it worked but didnt have any extensions until I put them in. I guess that's the problem! Thanks. 🙂

Okay, I've been litterally pulling my hair out over this for a while now and I've come looking for help.

My webserver is running the latest updates to Win NT, IIS 6 and php 4.4.2. Would move up to 5, but that doesn't install either, so I'm sticking with what does work. Well, for the most part that is.
This is the error we recieve when trying to run phpinfo file

1PHP Warning: Unknown(): Unable to load dynamic library 'C:\PHP\extensions\php_gd2.dll' - Access is denied. in Unknown on line 0

All permissions are set correctly for PHP folder. Please advise as its urgent.

I have the same problem also. Man I have tried putting this file in C:\WINDOWS, C:\WINDOWS\system32 and C:\PHP\extensions. Set permissions on the extensions directory with the IUSR_COMPUTERNAME account to full, plus reboot. My php.ini for that section reads:

extension_dir = "C:\PHP\extensions"

Someone PLEASE know the answer cuz I'm sure this other guy is pulling his hair out also.
