I saw some sample functions back in the forum archives, but this is the most concise function, developed in a project I'm doing. You pass the card # to the function, and it returns the card type. If the card fails it returns blank, so you can detect an error.
Note the function will "clean up" dashes and spaces, allowing the user a bit more freedom on the input.
