MySQL, GroupBy, Last Element

Hello!

I am doing a query like this one (Mysql 4.0.x):

SELECT Price1, Price2, Date1 
FROM abc
GROUP BY Date1
ORDER BY Date 1;

Now I want to get the last elements from the Price1 and Price2 column.

e.g.
Price 1 | Price 2 | Date1
12 | 13 | 2001
11 | 12 | 2001
21 | 22 | 2001
11 | 12 | 2002

Now the query puts something like this out:
12,13,2001
11,12,2002

But I want to get the last elements of Price1,2:
21,22,2001
11,12,2002

I hope you understand what I mean, and I am looking forward to your hints 😉.

that does not work. i would need something like a "LAST"-Aggregatfunction:

SELECT LAST(Price1), LAST(Price2), Date1 FROM XXX
GROUP BY Date1
ORDER BY Date1;

The "GROUP BY Date1" part takes the first row (both when ASC or DESC) but I need the last.

Maybe I'm just tired right now, but I don't understand what you're saying.

My suggestion would be to retrieve the query rows and then use [man]array_slice/man to only retrieve the first/last 2 rows.

array_slice() works just like substr(), so you could retrieve the last two rows by doing something like array_slice($rows, -2) and so on.

I have this very same problem. Did you ever figure it out?
