PayPal Automation?

For my petsite, I'm going to make it so that if someone pays $10 to me over PayPal, they will receive an upgraded account. Is it possible to have PHP code do this automatically if they send me the money? Are their ways around it, to make it seem as if they sent money but really didn't? Comments appreciated. 😃

PayPal provides an API to their IPN (Instant Payment Notification) system to notify a script on your website when a visitor makes a payment. It is very secure to the point of being able to prevent people from using previous transaction ids, and also paying another email address. You may also want to search www.hotscripts.com for existing IPN scripts already written that you may be able to interface into your site.
