Hi, I recently set up my web server at home and installed php. everything works fine in IE but in Firefox when I go to my index.php page it tries to download the php file and does not open it where as the same file on a hosted 3rd party server works fine. What do you think is the problem?
What Webserver are you using? Have you set the server up to recongize PHP as an Application? Did you restart the server?
I'm on IIS 5.1 (Win XP Pro) I have instaled the php installer but not tweeked it since it recognized .php files. Do I have to do something extra to let it "recognize php as an application" ? What do you mean by this?
Yes I have restarted the server.
you have to tell iis where to look for php so it can parse the files. See the section "Windows NT/200x/XP and IIS 4 or newer" at http://php.net/manual/en/install.windows.iis.php
Either choose between cgi or isapi and follow the directions they give, then you should be up and running.
restarted the server again! Issue resolved! Thanks for all the help.
