[Resolved] Writing to File, want to write over old contents

hi,

i have been trying to use the different commands associated with fopen, so that when i write my new data to a file, it will onyl contain this new data, and none of the old data.

Which ever i try, a, w etc, it just adds my new data to the end of the file.

Is there a way to do this at all please?

Have you tried using w+

using 'a' will append the data to the end of the file.

Plus check your permission make sure that you haven't got any special permissions on the file restricting the writing to the file.

you could always delete the file then recreate it each time? But then again that is to much work and hassle for the server if it is constantly being deleted then recreated.

open the file with r+ mode.

Open for reading and writing; place the file pointer at the beginning of the file.

thanks for help, i had tried all of them last night, and none worked, but im guessing the server wasnt using the new file i uploaded, and was using a cached version.

Tried this morning and 'w' worked for me.
