aligning entries

If I have a number of entries, say firstname, lastname that I'm pulling from a database how can I make sure they align vertically and set some horizontal indentation for them? For example, my current output looks like

fshort llast
floooooong lloooooooong
flooooooong llooooong
fshort llast
fshort llast
floooong llooooong
fshort llast
floooooooong llooooong

and I'd like to see

fshort        lshort
floooooong    lloooooooong
flooooooong   llooooong
fshort        lshort
fshort        lshort
floooong      llooooong
fshort        lshort
floooooooong  llooooong

where everything is now aligned vertically. And say the second column is indented 150 pixels or something.
