Hi all,
What does this actually do?
select * from table where field like '%$field%';
How similar must $field be to filed?
Thanks,
Kevin.
the % character is just a wildcard (any character) so field must just have the word $field in it but there can be other words or characters before and after the word.
What about if $field is something like this: John Doe
Would JohnDoe or JohnoDoe still work similar?
Basically can you have wildcard between words?
JohnDoe LIKE '%John Doe%' wouldnt match but you could put it between words if you wanted. axxxxbxxxxcxxxx would match '%a%b%c%'
