DNS slow to take full effect..

Alrighty... Here's the skinny.

I have a domain registered with a registration company. This company gives me access to a DNS panel where I can use their nameservers to point this domain at any address I'd like to. Two days ago I went to this control panel and entered my webserver's IP address into that control panel and submitted the form. It's been over 48 hours and the domain only occasionally resolves to my webserver's IP. Most of the time it resolves to a totally different IP.

What I'm wondering is if that behavior is a normal part of the DNS propogation or if it's something I need to let my registrar know about and thus get it working right.

If its a new domain, then it could take anything up to 72hrs. Think of how many DNS servers there are in the world and how many it will take to make a note of the new domain name.
