[Resolved] Headers Already Sent

Quick Question ..

if i get this error

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/xx/public_html/header.php:17) in /home/xx/public_html/create_account.php on line 162

How else can i forward a user to another page after they have successfully created an account?

What this is , it's an account creation page , and after the info is inserted into SQL , i had a Header Location: statement to forward them to a thank you page , telling them their account was added successfully , but it's saying headers already sent , why is this , and how can i fix this?

the header() function must be called before ANYTHING is sent to the browser. this includes any echo() statements, whitespace, ANYTHING.

Im confused ... In most of my script's i can simply add a header location at the bottom and it will forward them to the page. And that's after many thing's have already been executed. I dont understand

in that case they are probably if and else statements with code inside that may echo thins out, but is never actually called because the if/else if conditions aren't met.

so if they are not met, doing and

else
{
header(...);
}

will be fine. just that

else
{
echo "hello";
header(...);
}

will not work because like Thorpe said, it must be called BEFORE anything is printed/echoed/whatever to output.
