Learning PHP

Some people here at work are going to need to learn PHP in order to troubleshoot installation and security. What level of PHP would you reccomend they learn and where would they go to learn it?

ie. online course, book, free tutorials

Any help would be much appreciated.

if they are not new to programming IMHO the best resource is probably just the manual, otherwise, it might be wise to invest in a good book.

I would reccommend what I did. I went to http://3dbuzz.com and signed up for a simple account to access their downloads section. There you can find all sorts of tutorials for many things such as Alias Maya, ASP, if you scroll down their downloads section you will see one that says "PHP & MySQL", now this is what I used to learn. In that section is videos of basic PHP programming, its a fun and easy way to learning the PHP basics. I am now working on my own dynamic web program thanks to those videos. I think you should really give it a shot, the three people who created the videos are actually quite funny.
