Mailinglist sending is returning error

I need help / viewpoints on an issue.

I'm using the mail() command for sending a newsletter to about 400 members on a mailinglist. I've created a while-loop selecting the mailadresses from a database, then sending them out.

Nearly all of the newletter I'm sending out is returning with a mail saying :

This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed

[e-mail] unrouteable mail domain "mail.com"

I'd say it's likely that these members' servers have spam detection software installed, and that they are configured (system-wide, per-domain, or per-user) to bounce spam, rather than deliver or delete it. If so, your best solution would be to find out what is causing your newsletter to be labeled spam, and correct that.
