In wanting to learn something new, and for self-promotional reasons I am developing a website which will display my portfolio, resume, acomplishments etc.
I know JSP programming, C#, Java, XHTML, JavaScript, Advanced CSS etc, I dont like JSP as it seems over complicated for simple tasks, dont like Java much at all actually lol. PHP I hear is a much more "fun" web language to code in.
I am allready an experienced programmer knowing the fundamentals and OOP, so picking up PHP I hope wont be too hard.
So for my simple website what are some ways I can incorporate PHP into my site. I would like to gradually add some cool PHP features into the site so that I can learn PHP progressivly before I start making the kind of websites I usually would with Java (shipping cart, searchable database for inventory, user control pannels, decompression for zip files etc etc).
Anyways, any ideas and a place to start would be great thanks. No tutorials on "This is a loop", or "this is a variable" just a quick syntax guide woudl be fine, and ideas I can try incorportaing into a simple resume website.
Thankyou!!
