Question about HTML Forms...

Hi guys, okay, here's the problem I'm having and I'm not that advanced yet to figure it out.

Anyways, I'm trying to get a classified ads site up ( - not for business, but to just experiment/learn php n mysql -) but heres the problem I'm having...I have forms where ppl can input their ad's information. They can input price, email, description, etc. The thing is...I want the description to be able to read html tags that users can put in. Kinda like how you can input html on eBay's item description form.

If anyone can help me with this, I'd really apprecaite it.

What do you mean, 'read' HTML tags? HTML tags aren't 'read' by any server-side application.. they are simply spit back out to a browser, which 'reads' and processes them.

Well, I don't mean "read" persay, i just used that for lack of a better word. I just want to try and figure out how to have a form "spit back" the text the user types including the html tags that they have the option of inputting.

like, if a user inputs stuff in the form, on the corresponding page it would have the word "stuff" in bold as opposed to just simply printing the text "stuff".

If they entered 'test' then simply store that raw data into your DB. When you retrieve the value later and echo() it out, it'll print as raw text, the browser will see the bold tags, and modify the text accordingly.

The only problem you'd run into and get the literal '' to show up is if you were encoding the HTML entities before inserting them into your DB or before echo'ing them out to the browser.
