Swapping an image ???

Hello,

I am displaying an animated image on my website
but I want to stop in from running and replace it with
a static image after about 5 seconds.

I read somewhere that this can be done with PHP

(or maybe it was javascript ??)

This is my code - does anyone know how
I can change the imageA to imageB after about 5 seconds ?

It was probably javascript.

You could do it with PHP, but that would require reloading the entire page to change images, possibly disrupting the visitor's viewing and wasting bandwidth.

Couldn't you make an animation that doesn't loop and lasts for five seconds, with image B as the last frame?

Yep - I'd love to be able to do that - but I don't know how to !

I didn't create the image

All i have is a .gif file.

How do I edit it to stop the loop ?
(that would be good to know )

Also I would like to put a diferent ( a static ) image in its place and
I am sure I sure some timing control in js or php.

So i would like to be able to do both.

There's a freeware animated gif editor here. You can create new ones with it, and I think you can load an already-made one to edit.

I've heard it works well, but have never used it myself. If you do, run it through a virus-checker first.
