ok thanks brad
- now this is kinda interesting - I wrote a reply while I had cookies disabled - phpBuilder put up a confirm username/pw box and the SID was transparently appended in the url...
so, I wrote, why cant my site do that?
(because it still cant even though I now have:
php_value session.use_trans_sid 1
in the .htaccess file)
I dont know how to append the SID without doing it explicitly to all my links..
Anyway I then figured out that I could test for the session at a convenient point and tell the user to enable cookies - so as to allow the session to register - (that's better than seeing an empty cart )
and I went on to say that maybe sessions arent the answer to all login/cart problems
...and that seems to be demonstrated by my post from yesterday not appearing here when I had cookies disabled - I thought I was logged in but I wasnt
um, I dont know what all this proves apart from test test test.. and php's transparent SID support seems unpredictable
