Out of interest - I looked at the javascript and its all procedural - would / could you see any benefits of using oo javascript?

I'm currently looking into the evaluating oo javascript and trying to appraise the benefits of it...

Yes, oo should make things easier in this project, but I am a beginner in javascript (not in php), so converting it to oo is on top of my todo list.
