Needing help with php and a hug meter.

I am setting up a virtual huggable pet script for some people. I have the basic script and hug counter done and everthing. The one problem I am facing is that my skill in PHP stops once I reach anything using php and images.

The basic idea behind this script is that everytime a pet is clicked the hug count increases. The script will then update the image.

The above pet does not have an accual hug system attached.

Please help!

Hi tm,

Er ... how far have you got? Have you seen the image section in the manual?

Also, it looks like Flash would handle this nicely.

So far, I havn't done anything with the accuall image updating. I have the whole script, EXCEPT that, done. I have seen that page. but have trouble making sense of it. Also, flash can NOT be used, as the pets will be posted in the sig portion of a message board.

Well, the only part of the image that actually needs updating, at least as far you have so far described it, is the bar.

So, couldn't the bar be done in Flash and the pet be just a static image?

Ok, fair enough!

First thing to know is that you can't use gif images in all circumstances. Check that out asap with whoever deals with your server if it's crucial that you use gifs.

Second, have a look at this article and try going through it. Anything you don't get, come back and ask.

All images will be done in PNG. that is just a quick one done for help purposes.

You don't need a flash program, Ming will do:

I personally think that GD wouldn't work well, cause you would have to reload the image every time the hug meter in or decreases, this can be very irritating for users.
