about curl errors trapping

Hello

I was wondering something about curl_error. If I post some important datas which should not be posted twice, if I get a non empty curl_error return does it mean for sure that the post failed or the datas could have been submited ?

if it returns nothing, then it was successful, otherwise an error occured.

yes but what I mean is sometimes when you use the socket and you post some datas you got no html response but the data have been well submited...so maybe in some cases even with a curl error the datas could have been submited and received well

i think in that case you will either need to check the headers returned for a Location direction, or check the headers to make sure the request was understood by the server.

what do you mean exactly ?

a page doesnt have to return any content but it can return an instruction to the browser that it should go to another page...for example a response could be this

HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Date: rfc date
Content-type: text/html
Location: /anotherpage.php

those would be the headers with no body, which can indicate a success, unless they will forward you to an error page. or you might get a 400 Bad Request header meaning the http request (most likely the post data) was malformed.

yes I see in my case the url is good all the time..I think curl is here to manage those errors and I think it test the returned header...but need to be sure about that...

I will look but I found something:

$curl_info = curl_getinfo($ch);

if($curl_info['http_code']!="200"){die("error");} seems to work
