Counting the days between dates?

Hey I was wondering if someone could possibly help me,
I have two dates stored in a database, for example

06/05/2005 and 06/07/2005 (american style date)

Is there some kind of count function that I could use to
count how many days are from 5th-7th??

You could use [man]mktime[/man] or [man]strtotime[/man] to turn them into unix timestamps, subtract one from the other and divide by 86400.

That's A solution, not saying it's the best one. Your database engine might have the ability to select the days straight to unix timestamps for you, too.
