Set memory_limit and see error details

Hi,

I am getting sometimes the following error message in apache error_log:

Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 0 bytes)

How can I configure php.ini so that it tells me which file has produced such error ?

Where can I find info about which is best value for such field ?
