[Resolved] Create pages on the fly

Or inserts, inserts would do.
Im thinking, search database, display results, then clickable links under each result to point to a page with more information on.
Thing is I dont want to create each page individually...

So Im guessing it needs to be something like link points to page template and a php include thats somehow identified by the id of the search result Im on...

no, basically I have no idea where to start. SO. before I go off searching the web hopelessly for any script that might be close to what I wanna do, anyone explain how this might be done n help me narrow it down a bit?

Well, reading the tutorials and the forums on this site will help a lot.

In principle..

You need:

A link:

page.php?openpage=1

A processing page:

page.php:


<?php // tells there is some PhP code coming

// get the pageid:

$page_to_open = $_GET[openpage];

//Then get the page from the database:

$result = mysql_query('select * from YOURTABLENAME where PAGEIDCOLUMNAME = $page_to_open') or die('Not the right statement here: '.mysql_error());

// and spit it out:

while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result))
  {
   echo $row[somecontent];
  }

THese are the basic basics.

Read more on this website, and learn about mysql at mysql.org

Furthermore.. there are sticky FAQ threads in each forum. An other good starting point.

Tutorials are good once ya figure out just what it is ya need to learn 😛 but just typing 'create pages on the fly' doesnt generally bring up very much useful stuff.

you might be surprised that here might be a lot of resonses on the strangest subjects though. andway. The tutorials here are usually pretty good. this is one you'd like to look at, I think.

mmmhmm. 'repeatedly fishing for others to solve your problems does get noticed. If you are not engaged in learning you could likely irritate forum members with your laziness.

Lol. I disagree, having spent about 12 solid hours working on something, only to wander into forums in a moment of frustration, n have someone point out that theres a 10 times simpler way if only Id asked first.

What "ya" realy need to lean is how to write in English so that those of us that know how to help "ya" will be interested enough to read what "ya" have posted and be inclined to take the time to respond to "ya".

If I used the local vernacular of western North Carolina most folks - including nothen scum (what ever that is) would want to respon to me either.

If that is the best attitude/manners you can manage, then do us all a favor - DONT be inclined to read what others post, DONT be inclined to take the time think up an answer, and most of all, DONT RESPOND.
