Information From C++ EXE

I just started PHP today. I want to make a small website (3-5 pages) that gets a number from an EXE made with MSVC++ 6, and puts it in a database. I understand the basic syntax and some of the functions, but how can I send and receive the information? Is there a special function set for this type of thing?

Interesting... thanks. I was also wondering if there's a way to do it client side?

what do you mean by client side? do you mean for php (on the server) to access an exe on the client?

not likely. think of it from a security standpoint.

Well would it be practical to have a program on the client that connects with a program on the server via WinSock2 or something and the program on the server receives the information and moves it onto the site?
