Check out the file() function:

What do you mean by delete the file? Do you need to delete it completely or "clear" (touch) it? After you figure that out, you just setup a cronjob to run the script every hour.

Why not? It looks to me like he answered your question.

Except "touch"-ing the file won't empty it. It'll only modify the access and modify times.

Well, he did help a bit with the file() thing, but it doesnt really have a feature for just the last 10 lines, does it? Even if it does I can't find it.. 😛

Well, it puts the lines from the file into an array. Then it should be a straigtforward process to do whatever you want with those elements.

The other question you asked will have to involve some sort of a cron (or Windows version of it) if you want the task to be performed without user intervention.
