How to keep mySQL from shutting down after logout

I'm running Sokkit on a Windows machine. How do I keep mysql running after I log off of the machine? When I log off, the website can still be accessed remotely, but mysql turns itself off and the scripts no longer work because they cant connect to the database anymore. When this happens, I output a link that points to [url]http://[/url](IP address):523/daemon.php?daemon=mysql&action=start but this still doesn't work unless I'm logged in. (this is the same URL that the Sokkit "Start Database" link points to on the control panel and its a static IP).

where you logged in when you installed mysql? ive no idea how windows works in this regard (i use linux) but im assuming mysql needs to run under the same user it was created with.

Thanks for the reply thorpe. Yeah I was logged in when I installed it. You have to log in as some user in order to install anything.

Anyone have a more definitive answer? Thanks.

When you installed it did you select run as current user or allow anyone to run it? The second option should install a system service (if the account you installed under has admin privileges). If you selected just to run as current user, you might have to reinstall and allow all users to access it.

All users can access it, but one of them has to be logged in in order for it to run.

You didn't install MySQL as a service you simply have the mysqladmin in the start folder.

Thanks for the help jerdo. I found a work-around using Remote Desktop Connection to connect to the machine. If I close RDC without logging off (click the X), it'll still log me off but keep my session alive, which keeps mysql running. And other users can still log on when they need too.
