[Resolved] Different sort of date challenge

I did a couple of searches for various date problems on the boards, and I've been staring at this screen all day with no luck.

I need to find out what the start and end dates (Sunday through Saturday) for a given week, month, and year are. A function that returned the start date would be ideal, since I can add 6 days to get the final date.

If I want to view week 2 of June, 2005 I would like it to return:
2005-06-12
or week 1 of June, 2005 to return:
2005-05-29 (this is the catch...).

This is for a calendar that displays from Sunday to Saturday, and the return date will be fed into a MySQL query that will display job information for all days in that week.

Assuming you are building the calender and the querying fully yourself.. Cant you use the week of year option in date?

Have a look at the strtotime() function in the manual, where I found this:

I saw that on the php.net in the manual. I can't figure out how to pass a month and year to that function to get it to show the dates....that was for a couple of hours earlier this morning.

The page output only shows the week number (for the month and year) requested, like this:

I currently have it set up so that week 1 is always the 1st - 6th, week 2 is the 7th - 13th, etc. My project managers want to see the jobs with week one like you would see on a calendar.

Yeah, notice it is a bit more complex.

What is the fiorst week of a month? the week in which the 1st of the month is present?

Then (untested, idea):

// get the day of the first:

$day = 1
$month = 6
$year = 2005
$show week = 2

$week_day = date("w", mktime(0, 0, 0, $day, $month, $year));

// create a correction
$day_correction = 0-$weekday;

$days_added = $day_correction + $show week * 7

$newdate = mktime(0, 0, 0, $day + $days_added, $month, $year);

Had a crack at this myself ... could be useful for displaying all the weeks (via the sundays) to the user ...
