[Resolved] Total newbie question (but quick)

I know this is a stupid question, but I am not sure what to do:

When creating a DB table and inputting information, do I change characters to HTML code?

For instance: " double-quotes " Do I leave as they are, OR do I write them into the db as &quot;

And what about line breaks?

Do I just hit the enter button on my keyboard to create carriage return or do I input a <BR> element into the DB??

I know this is a silly question, but it never hurts to ask..

Depends. Do you want to store data so that, when retrieved, it is immediately ready for display? If so, then yes, use a function such as [man]htmlspecialchars/man and [man]nl2br/man.

EDIT: Woops.. don't know if you noticed or not, but I had a bad case of my brain going faster than my fingers could! "Do you want to display data so that," didn't make much sense after having read it over now, so I corrected it! :p
