monitoring 3rd party sales

I'm hoping to create a link to another online shop that will sell similar products as I do. I will receive a small cut if a sale is made by a user clinking through from my site to the other shop, as part of a referral fee. It is intended that I will receive an email with every product as it is sold, along with a quarterly summary report. However, is there any way that I can follow users myself to see if they do go on to make a purchase from the other site?

no - not without the help of the site owner. You can't track them or see their site stats, the only thing you can do is see how many people go to their site from a link on yours, using link tracking.
