Auto Insert of Date on page

Hi,

Let me exlpain what im trying to achieve :

I want a dropdown box at the top of a schedule that's duration is a fortnight (2 weeks) with monday being the start of the week. I also wanted it to automtically insert a (today) at the end of the day that it currently is

Bassically: If today is wednesday 4th of june:

This week -> Monday 2nd june
This week -> Tuesday 3rd june
This week -> Wednesday 4th june (Today)
This week -> Thrusday 5th june
This week -> Friday 6th june
This week -> Saturday 7th june
This week -> Sunday 8th june
Next week -> Monday 9th june
Next week -> Tuesday 10th june
Next week -> Wednesday 11th june
Next week -> Thrusday 12th june
Next week -> Friday 13th june
Next week -> Saturday 14th june
Next week -> Sunday 15th june

My question is, how do I get this on the page in PHP.

Im wanting to build a schedule system bassically, so each day would have a setup like this

E.G - Monday

00:00 - DJ 1
01:00 - DJ 2
02:00 - DJ 3
03:00 - DJ 4

and so on ...

and also, for each hour of the day, have a [book slot] OR [cancel slot] depending on if someone had booked one during that time.

First things first though, how would I go about setting up the database to display this dropdown menu on the page, with the dates like above, that automatically update with the weeks.

Im a intermediate at PHP .. I can do a few things, learning as I go! I dont want anyone to say, sure .. and list a ton of code, as I wana learn from this. So some pointers would be very greatful, thanks guys

You could use MySQL's Date functions.

get todays date
get the date 2 days ago
get the date 11 days ahead
use a for loop to start from the date 2 days ago, going up to the date 11 days ahead. Use the MySQL ADDDATE funtion to increment the date each loop and output it.

It should work in theory anyway!

hmmmm ...

I dont think that would work, the problem being, the start of the week wouldnt always be 2 days before, and the end 11 days after.

I need to find someway of .. setting like .. monday as the start of the week, or atleast being able to have a drop down, with monday then dynamically adding the date to the end.

Im not sure how to go about getting mysql to say, its tuesday the 3rd of june, and print the dropdown on the page in comparasion to the date.

wouldnt there be a way like say,

IF today = tuesday: get date (eg. 3rd june) then add monday (work out date by minusing 1 off the date, so monday would equal 2nd june) then saying that from tuesday there are 5 days to the end of the week, then a further 7 days to the end of the next week, then simply adding 1 date onto each day.

Or maybe giving each day a number, Monday=1 tuesday =2 etc, then .. if today is tuesday, get the date, then get php to count back to 1, to find mondays date, then 3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 and so on and print the dates for those days.

Hmmm .. the thing is, im clueless

Use the MySQL DAYOFWEEK function to find out which day of the week today is (check if the server thinks monday or sunday is the first day of the week)

Subtract 1 or 2 from this first number (dependant on if sun or mon is the first day - try either to find out)

Now use ADDDATE to deduct that number from todays date - returning you the date of the start of the week.

Now use a for loop to output from this day up to 14 days ahead.

ok, so my week starts on a sunday.

Now, i've never used FOR loops before, apart from FOREACH, so im not sure how to do this.

Im going to google "FOR loops" and take a look at what comes up. If I find anything usefull, I'll stick the code on there for a start

well, I took alook online, and couldnt find much usefull information.

Im wondering the best way to go about this, as im going to have to use the days of the week in other code to cancel shows and create shows on that day. IS there a way to create a database for this to make it much eaiser? like .. have a table for each day, and make mysql find the date for those days or something .. Im really clueless
