Send email with picture and link

I want to send a email from my PHP code. I want the email to have a picture. When the user gets the email he can see this picture directly. And when the user clicks the picture I want a link that takes him to a url.

Can someone please show me how to do this?

The behavior you desire would require the email to be in HTML format which, for countless reasons, is not preferred.

If you absolutely must, then so be it. All you do is the usual mail() function stuff to send the message, just write the body of the email in html code.

The success of this method relies entirely on the mail reader being used by your recipient. Lots of people use readers which do not interpret html, so all they will see is tags and a big mess. Some people disable html even on able clients because html is often used in very poor ways and so you will want to reconsider this.

there is no real 'recomended' way to do this, the way rebelo described is how it is done.

the whole point is though. that it is up to the client to determine how the email is read.

i for one have my email client set to plain text, so even if you sent me your html email, i would just recieve the html in plain text.

Ok, can someone please post some example code for this so I can check it out? I have never been into html mails with pictures before so I need some help.
