System time VS php time

i noticed that there is a difference between system time and time in php. if i print date("Y-m-d H:i:s), i get this:

09:42:12 19.06.2005

if i go to shell and execute "date", i get this:

date

Sun Jun 19 07:42:19 PDT 2005

why is there 2 hour difference? 😕

time will take value from server time
not from your computer

if you have same time as server, then should not be any difference
( hope I am right here - if not, somebody better tell me )

i was referring to server time... same machine where PHP scripts are located. thats why i dont understand this.

Also I cant understand.
If I do the same with my Apache server (in my own PC)
I will get same time as my local time.
We both need to read this, I think:

Actually, it is not this

$mytime = date( "Y-m-d H:i:s", time() );
echo "my time is now: $mytime";

that is displayed!

Because that would format:
2005-06-19 07:42:19
and time would be correct.

You see what i mean?
I think PDT stands for 'Pacific Daylight Saving Time'
or something like that

Please can anyone give me a program that counts and show on screen days hours min sec left for a given date of month.....??able to run on Putty!!
