Finalizing a site,..good practice?

Hello,

I have a site that is heavily php and mysql driven. It is pretty much complete but as a final step I would like to know if there is a reference for good practice. I'd like to know about optimizing my code, performing maintenence, and other things to make sure that it all runs smoothly.

Can anybody please point me to a good reference for this?

The reason that I asked here is because I found a post containing just what I had requested awhile ago but can't seem to find it now. It's a tough one to think of a search term for.

You probably already know this, but oh well in case you don't.

To optimize mysql queries, use explain on your queries and modify your database or change your queries to see if you can improve it.

Use ab (apache benchmark utility) to benchmark your script on the server.
