Halojoy: Dots are fine, but sometimes...
$var=$foo."<br>".$foo2."<br>".$three."<br>";
...it sure is tidier without.
$var="$foo<br>$foo2<br>$three<br>";
{ } are only needed when the var is next to a char that may be in a var:
$var="$foobar"; is not cool
$var="{$foo}bar"; saves the day
Of course, so does a dot, even nicer (in this case ;-):
$var=$foo."bar";
