my current contact database is very basic, but i am looking to add export features such as export to excel

im really not sure how to do this, looked for scripts and tutorials to try to figure out how to do something like this.

does anyone have something I could look at?

Hi,

Not sure how you searched. Have you heard of the wonderfull php programmers tool named google?

If you use it, and punch in the keywords:
create excel with php

this is the first hit you get:
PHP to Excel Class - Introduction

allowing you to even download the full class and manual on how to use it.

hey, I didnt really think the rudeness was necessary- but yes, i tried google and searched:

php contact list expor excell

etc...

you can export the content of your table into excel by following this steps
1. create a filename with an extension of .csv : eg. myfile.csv
using fopen()

2. grab the result of your table and for the next row add "\n"

3. use fwrite() function
4. fclose()

the CSV format need delimiters in the output, doesn't it?
I think there is a function writecsv or something in the PhP functionlist. But that is just a generic format, and not excell own.
