Meaning of sendmail switches

Hi all,

My php.ini file is set to point to sendmail as :-

/usr/sbin/sendmail -t -i.

Does anyone know what the -t and -i options do and whether they would prevent me from sending emails in the RFC format of

name <email address>

i.e.

Philip Radford <[e-mail]>

All I get when using the mail() function is bad address (invalid format).

-t tells sendmail to aquire the recipients of the message from To CC and BCC headers instead of from the command line.

-i tells it that a dot on a line by itself shouldnt terminate a non smtp message.

Are you using windows? If so the manual says, "...the 'to' parameter should not be an address in the form of "Something <[e-mail]>". The mail command may not parse this properly while talking with the MTA."
