image loading question

hello all.. i have a question but not to sure it has anything to do with php.. i have a site with about 6700 members.. each member has 10-20 photos. right now i have all those photos in a "photos" directory.. would it be wiser to have the members photos in there own photo directory?

example... photos/username

think it would be faster loading? just curious

It would be faster, but only a little. Instead of scanning 10000+ files to find a match, it would only need scan 10-20.

It would also prevent people from looking at all of the pictures by incrementing (or whatever) the image number.

Futher than that, I'm not sure.

It would also help prevent members accidentally or delibarely overwriting each others' photos. It would also make it quite a bit easier if you wanted to delete all of a particular member's photos.
