[RESOLVED] MIME emailer working but attachments showing

hello

have been working on an emailer and its working, check out my code below.

my images should be in the attachment but it shows up below the emailer.

  $hdr .= "--SOMEWEBSITE\r\n";
   $hdr .= "Content-Type:$filetype;";
   $hdr .= "name=\"$file_name\"\r\n";
   $hdr .= "Content-Transfer-Encoding:base64\r\n";
  $hdr .= "Content-ID:classic1\r\n";
  $hdr .= "Content-Disposition:attachment;";
  $hdr .= "filename=\"$file\"\r\n\n";
   $hdr .= "$fileinc\r\n";

it makes no difference if i set the Content-TRansfer-Disposition to "inline" or "attachment"

any help would be appreciated, if anybody had this problem before.

For this situation, I believe the correct parameter would be "inline". Also, you're missing the line ending for the Content-Disposition header. Replace this:

$hdr .= "Content-Disposition:attachment;";

with this:

$hdr .= "Content-Disposition:inline;\r\n";

when i add \r\n the images dissapear thats because the cariage return should not be there since

 $hdr .= "Content-Disposition:inline;";
  $hdr .= "filename=\"$file3\"\r\n\n";

filename is part of the content-disposition and the line break should only follow after that line, in particular interest is that problem only occurs with outlook express and not microsoft outlook.

this is kinda a big problem for the designers and had this problem before and could not find a solution before..

any more help would be great

also tried to take out the extra \n -> this also does nothing.

finally i got it working what was wrong all this time was I needed the Content-Transfer=Encoding:7bit in the beginning of the MIME emailer.

Not sure why since the Content-Transfer-Encoding is specified at the beginning of every boundry but its working now.

$hdr = 'MIME-Version:1.0' ."\n";
$hdr .= 'Content-Type:multipart/mixed;boundary=SOMEBOUNDRY'."\n";
$hdr .= "Content-Transfer-Encoding:7bit\n";

all i did wrong the whole time was i used multipart/mixed instead of multipart/related.

So naturally everything in the email was in seperate sections and not in one related email. Therefore it appeared that the images were attached and showing in the MIME mailer
