[Resolved] how to see the source of php with a script?

Hello,

I have searched through tons of functions and forums for a php script that allows you to edit other php files.

I don`t mean those advanced editting scripts that are on hotscripts.com but just a simple script that allows you to edit other files.

easiest is to convert php pages into textfiles.txt
because you know how to edit textfiles, with notepad
dont you?

you just make a copy of your
myphpscript.php
and rename this copy to
myphpscript.php.txt

Basically 'php' ARE text files
It is the extension .php that can make it impossible to edit, sometimes

as editor of some .php or .php.txt file
you might use whatever plain text editor
that is what most of us 'experts' do, as far as I know

wouldnt be too difficult to roll your own. look into the [man]fopen/man, [man]fread/man, [man]fread/man and [man]fwrite/man functions.

@ : that`s just NOT what i wanted 😛 i wanted something to edit my files online without the need to change the files extension or wharever...

I did realize this later after my post.
So what is your situation?
Why do you want to edit your php online?

To every specifically described situation, there is a possible good solution.
That is useable, for real.
To any abstract question, without real life conditions defined,
there are plenty of solutions, but most of them will not be of any use at all.

what i`m looking for is just an simple page where you can SELECT the files that are on the same place as where the script is (duhh otherwise it would be hacking) and that you can click on a file. once you click on it you have a big form with just the content of the clicked file. now you should be able to edit it and apply the changes 🙂

That`s what i would like to see.. i can do the rest myself 😃 (i think)

Of course, you'd have to add error-checking, security checks, etc.

Make sure they're not including '../../' in the filename (to escape to parent directories). Try checking what directory the files are really in by using [man]realpath[/man].
