I doubt this is possible in php but I thought it would be worth asking.

Is there a way to call a website in php and then actually take a visual screenshot of it which will then be saved to my computer. I can do this in c++ or vb probably but it would be more convenient in php which is why I am asking.

I did but that didn't seem the same thing as what I needed. I will take another look at it though.

Well calling the site is easy enough... the hard part comes when you need to process the HTML returned and render it into an image.

You basically have to write your own PHP browser... not exactly something PHP is really great at doing.

A pretty good while ago, someone tried... on this board too... just gotta search and see what they were up to.

I started coding something in c++ last night that might meet my needs. At the moment I have it capturing the website images but I just need to prefect it so that might be my best option and just make it communicate with my website.

To save yourself some effort (ah, you're probably already doing this) you may prefer to call on the Gecko or KHTML rendering engines to do the hard bit.
