email not receiving variables?

i have this mail form that for some reason won't or isn't receiving variables. I receive that email and the text that isn't $_POST('name'). i even tried setting one to GET and entered the info in the URL but even then it didn't work. any suggestions?

here's the php code:

and the email i receive is just this, even when trying GET through the web browser and URL insertion, blank:

ok, as an addition to my post, i tried the form on a diffent server and it works. the fields in the email are filled. what does this mean?

What version of PHP are you running? Did you double check the field names in the HTML form?

the server is running php 4.0.6. all the field names are correctly named.
does this mean i can't use superglobals? im not sure of the other option.

Try adding print_r($_GET) to the file, and add some arguments to the URL, like 'test=testing&this_is=a_test' and whatnot. See if it shows up.

Um, is that your version or the server if so I highly suggest you get the host to upgrade to at least PHP 4.3.11 alot has changed since 4.0.6.

Just a little information

From version 4.1.0 onward, PHP provides an additional set of predefined arrays containing variables from the web server (if applicable), the environment, and user input. These new arrays are rather special in that they are automatically global--i.e., automatically available in every scope. For this reason, they are often known as 'autoglobals' or 'superglobals'. (There is no mechanism in PHP for user-defined superglobals.)

You will need to use $name instead, which IMHO is such a security risk.

it is the server, and i will push them to upgrade. in the meantime though, how would i rewrite the script instead of using $message = "Name: " . $_POST['name'];?

Umm....

reserved.variables
HTTP POST variables: $_POST
Note: Introduced in 4.1.0. In earlier versions, use $HTTP_POST_VARS.
