Expert Help Wanted

Hello!

I am a web designer that has only worked with html and javascript as of late.  I have absolutely no knowledge of php programming and would like to learn more, There is so much on this site that I don't know where to start..  All I want is a simple push in the right direction.

I have something called LiteWeb, it allows you to host html and (i assume php) pages from my computer. I just put the file in c:/www and people can access it...

But Im at http://www.php.net/manual/en/tutorial.firstpage.php I open notepad and paste the Coding into it.

I save as hello.php
And the Save as type is All Files

However after I saved it and tried to view it, It wants me to download the file. Its not supposed to work like that is it?

Anyways, you go to 12.219.75.48 and the files there, I even went to php.com to download that php thing but Its download page doesnt work

Dont assume anything as it doesnt let you host PHP files there I can see the PHP source code (view source) you need to have PHP Parsed http://www.php.net/manual/en/install.windows.php should help since im not sure on your webserver probably IIS by the looks of the Directory path.

While LiteWeb does say it supports PHP, my impression from looking at the home page and the forum is that you need to install PHP separately. If after installing PHP you still cannot get LiteWeb to work correctly, I'd suggest trying their forum first, as people there are more likely to be familiar with LiteWeb configuration.

As far as downloading PHP, you want www.php.net, not .com. I checked and the download worked fine for me.
