Strange slashes are showing in my Messages

I have a user PM system , and strange slashes are showing , where their should be text.

It is cutting the message totally off , and adding a slash instead.

Here's an example.

Yeah, \

That wasnt the whole message , but it is showing as that when i open a message from one of my user's .. And in mysql it was stored as that also.

Is it addslashes that is causing this? Im confused.
