Help on uploading php

😕 I have currently been trying to upload php on my webserver. Everytime I try to upload it and run it, it always trys to download the file. For example if I tried to run the php info page, so when i went to the site, it tried to download info.php I am running Windows 2000 pro with apache 2 webserver. I have php 4 and MySQL loaded on my computer. I dont know what I am doin wrong. I have been trying to get php to work for about 2 years. I have spent numerous hours on the net trying to research it. But everytime I go to a site and try the way they tell me, I am back to were I started. I would be very apreciated if you would please help me. I have been ask to build 3 professional sites, but without php i cant make it the way I want it. So please help me!!!! Russell 😕

are you using a shared host? does your hosting provide php? your not real clear with your problem, one minute your talking about what sounds like a remote server (shared hosting) next thing your telling us what operating system your using.

please be more specific. are you trying to get php running on your local machine?

Well I am using my own hosting. I am hosting my website off of my own computer for rite now. I dont have a www.domainname.com yet. I am trying to learn php first. so when you go to my site you have to type in my ip number with the port i have it configured to. and apache supports php. It is hosted on the internet, but like i said you have to put my ip number in with my port number. If you need anything else, please reply and I will let you know. Thank you for your help. and apache supports php

you are right... apache does support php, but, it doesnt come with it pre-installed. have you installed php?

you might want to take a look at the manual. depending what operating system you use, there are a few different install methods.

I have php 4 or either 5 cant remeber off the top of my head. I am on a friends computer rite now. But anywayz, I have read every manual there is. I know there is a way u have to configure apache to work with php. I dont know the configuration for that though. If you need anymore info just let me know. Thank you for replying. Have you installed and configured IIS yet? I don't run apache on a windows machine, but I know you can't just run apache. I believe you have to install the IIS module (which I also think is not installed by default on Win2k pro) and tell it to work with apache.

Yes I have installed IIS, but how do I configure it to work with apache? And another thing I am having to use a different port other than default 80. My internet connection sux. They wont open it for me!! But If you could tell me how to configure it, I would appreciate it. And what do u suggest to use on windows? Thanks Russell
