Download file using URL with PHP?

Hi,

How do I download a file to my own server using PHP?

For example, I want to do a PHP program that can download an image file like in www.somedomain.com/image1.jpg, and save it to a directory I specify on my server.

There is no way to use HTTP get file or something?

If your php install allows it you can just wack the url into fopen, or file_get_contents and then just bang it back out to your local.

I guess you havent found anything using Forum Search, in upper right corner.

Depending on your installation of PHP; if shell exec is enabled, I would just use wget

<?php
 $FileName='http://your.path/image.jpg';
 shell_exec('wget '.$FileName);
?>

I tried your code: shell_exec, however it doesn't work. Even though I can type wget http://someimage.gif to download the file successfully. Is there a hidden setting I need to enable on my server to enable shell_exec?
