announcement mailing list tool

Dear List

I am on the search for a php solution for an "announcement email list." Does anyone know of any simple php solutions out there? I need to put something together for a client of mine, unfortunately his webspace provider doesn't have a plan with mailing list, so we're on our own... (he's stuck with the provider for another few months...)

Any help or insight appreciated.

With today's very inexpensive hosting options out there, why is he "stuck" with his current host? At any rate, as weed pointed out, some very simple and poignant keyword searching, you should be able to very easily find something useful. This wheel has been recreated several times.
