upload files to the server

Greetings,

I need to write a script to upload several hundred files in one go, from my personal computer to the server. In what direction should I look?

Second option is to zip all files as one and unzip them in the server, can this be done with php (unzip)? Mybee some other compress algoritem?

winzip is the prefered choice, as this is what the client knows best.

your best bet is to just zip them, upload and then unzip. if you have shell access you can run unzip zipfile.zip from the command line, or you can try to do it from php with system("unzip zipfile.zip");
uploading hundreds from a form would take hundreds of upload fields and youd have to browse for each file manually.

I have to assume my client knows nothing of shell and such,

So I guess the system("..."); option is the best one.
