$GET_ alternatives

ok, so here's the deal -

a few days ago i started developing a script that would recieve variables passed to it by flash.

I believed that I was supposed to aquire those variables in this format-

$var = $_GET["name"];

but that didn't work for whatever reason......
so, in doing a little research online, i found a different command that worked. Problem is, I don't know what it was that I used. Depressing eh?

I thought it might have been $HTTP_POST_VARS["name"]; - but that doesn't seem to be working. Can anyone help? Many actionscript to php tutorials use this command but I'm getting no luck from it.

$GET references variables from the query string like script.php?value=something
$POST references variables sent via http post to a script

$HTTP_GET_VARS is the same as $GET, except its from older php version and shouldnt be used anymore.
$HTTP_POST_VARS is same as $POST, and is from older php versions.

$REQUEST will reference variables from both $GET AND $_POST.

Thanks a bunch, i got it to work first time. I guess I figured "post" meant to send something out, not recieve.
